Starting school is an exciting time for children, parents, and carers. We want to help make the enrolment process as easy as possible for you.  Each year, the department releases the Foundation (Prep) Enrolment Information Pack for Parents/Carers, with information packs available from the beginning of Term 2 for students commencing foundation/prep the following year.

These information packs, and other important information, can be found on the Enrolling in Foundation (Prep) page of the Victorian Government website.

We run our pre-prep transition program based on the student’s individual needs.

Each child has as many sessions as they need to become comfortable in our school environment. Students can also experience traveling to and from school on the bus. Pre-school children can also become familiar with our school environment by attending the Gumnuts Playgroup which is held in the Sloyd Room at the school one morning per week.

Enrolling your child in Year 7 is an important part of their education journey. We want to help you make the transition process as easy as possible.

Each year, the department releases Year 6 to Year 7 placement information for schools and for parents/carers, with information packs available from the beginning of Term 2 for students commencing Year 7 the following year.

These information packs, and other important information, can be found on Moving from primary to secondary school page of the Victorian Government website.

We have developed ongoing partnerships with our neighbouring secondary schools and we are supportive of social networking opportunities to better prepare our students for their transition to secondary school.

We share grade 3/4 and grade 5/6 camps with neighbouring schools Thorpdale and Boolarra. Our students also take part in the Mirboo North Secondary College, Lowanna Secondary College and Trafalgar High School transition program days during their grade five and six school years. So whatever secondary college a family chooses for their child to graduate to, our students leave Narracan Primary School with the support and personal confidence to begin their secondary education.

Art Smocks

All children require an art smock with long sleeves. This is to protect your child’s clothing during art and other messy activities.

Uniform

Our school colour is navy blue, black and white. HipPocket Workwear Morwell have our embroidery logo available along with Bright-A-Print have the school logo as a screenprint if you would like to have a t-shirt printed. Logos are suitable for printing on polo shirts and windcheaters.

Children wearing unsuitable clothing (not Sunsmart) or shoes will be asked to play in the undercover area during playtimes and may need to sit out at sport.

Book Club

Children receive an order form from Scholastic Book Club once or twice a term.

Books are able to be purchased by completing the order form, returning to school by the due date with the appropriate money, a cheque made payable to Scholastic Book Club or by using the credit card slip on the order form. Purchases from the Book Club enable us to select some free books for the school.

Our school zone is available on findmyschool.vic.gov.au which hosts the most up-to-date information about Victorian school zones.

Students residing in our school zone are guaranteed a place at our school, which is determined on the basis of your permanent residential address. Our school also has additional capacity available to welcome students who are outside of our school zone.

Our school manages enrolments using the Placement Policy to ensure that students have access to their designated neighbourhood school and may enrol at another school, if there are available places.
